Namibia - Road Trip - Amani 1
We were back on the road the next day to Amani - "Big Cat" Reserve. It is located just outside of Windhoek and again we were surprised at the accommodations and the dinning experience. We just barely arrived in time. I had set the reservation, thinking that we would take the game drive the following day. Wrong, they only do one a day, in the afternoon! We got there at 4pm and they held up the drive for us to get signed in. They started the reserve 10 years ago as a rescue reserve for big cats. They currently have 5 male Cheetahs that are pretty tame and can not be release back into the wild. People that keep them as pets and then don't want them after they are no longer small and cute. Then they have an additional 5 male Cheetahs that are mostly wild and do hunt some of the time, when something dares to cross the fence. We were placed in a fenced area - I felt like I was in a Jurassic Park movie, when they brought the goat up! I must say they guys are fierce hunters in a pack.
