F.R.I.M. & Genting Highlands

Forestry Research Institution of Malaysia - really a nice place to just walk, ride your bike or do your daily run. It turned out to be pretty close to the house, as long as there are no wrecks to mess up traffic.

Bird of Paradise are like our crepe myrtles - wild and plentiful !!!

This is a bird nest fern way way up in a tree - you can't tell how large it is, because there is nothing to compare it to, but it was at least 12 feet across and 7-8 feet high - HUGE !!!

Gourd or fruit ?

We decided to make a run up the mountains to see what all the fuss was about. Most folks talk about how cold it is up there and it is only 1.5 hr outside of KL. Of course this would be the day that the CRV was still in the shop being repaired from my abuse. So we had a Proton - the cheapest throw down car possible 1.5 liter, can't pull it's own weight on a flat surface, let a lone our combined 350+ lbs. To say the least it was very much a challenge to get up this mountain and talk about the switch backs - WOW they are serious here !!! Oh and they find the need to put speed bumps on the switch backs too. I am sure there are idiots here that think they can take that corner doing whatever speed and wined up in on coming traffic. There here probably 20+ cars on the side from over heating or something breaking. We made it up and down without any trouble, but the car rental folks called as we were on our way up, wanting to drop off the fixed CRV and pick up the Proton. I told Pun, where we were and she was very surprise to hear that we were trying it in the Proton. Caulk it up to we had no idea it was that steep. It was definitely an experience, nail biting!!

Mist/fog up on top - the temperature was about 5 degrees less than down in KL - and the folks up on top had on COATS - I was so in aw that I didn't take any photos !! We had the windows down and still had the A/C going !!!

What do you think this one is ? Car has gas? PeeU!! :)

As is everything here - a good power washing company could make a fortune - labor is cheap - just have to purchase a bunch of gasoline powered power washers !!!

Sideways is the only way to manage - not even on my toes where the steps large enough for my small size - and again steep !!!

You know how many shots it took to get one of us looking down, the camera looking up (but not up our noses) - trust me it took several - I was wishing for Britt and Taylor's camera with the reversible screens!!!
