Dune 7 - Conquering

Tanja - must be nice to be so young - she kept me going!
Those are huge palm trees down there - you can't even see the car - why did I agree to this!

D-D-D-Deee!!
Tanja was giving me grief - about not quitting now - I asked her if she pushed her mom that hard - no reply!!!
Can you see all the sand blowing in my face - it was pretty tough up on top - no quite like snow blowing over the top !
Almost!
You can do it!
ah ! Finally !!
On top of Dune 7 - what a climb!

Sandwich Harbor - Tallest Sand Dunes in the World

The whole crew - except me - left to right - Jo, Tanja, Scott, Jason, Niken & Julien - Oh and of course the trusty Land Rover (got to get one of these)
Once we climbed up top of this huge dune - the tide was coming in and spilling over the ledge of harden clay - just gorgeous!

Trying to show just how tall the dunes in the back ground and we were already up on top of the closest dunes that we could get to.

Julien - just kidding around - I think?

Out of order again - Julien just getting to the top!

Jason just getting to the top - didn't spill a drop of his beer!!!!

Up on top of the world of sand!
Surfing !
A different type of surfing - Julien and Niken!
Our trusted guide and driver - Joseph and Tanja - Native Namibians!

Pile up on top!
Acting up a bit ladies!
We didn't get out of the driveway in time to get past the narrow crossing - Jo and Scott surveying the risk - it just wasn't worth it! See how the dunes come right down to the water. You can see were the water is at high tide.

Dune Running!
Close quarters, but with lots of humor - No we didn't have any fun !

Namibia - Road Trip - Along the Road 1

These were taken all along the road coming and going. Oryx that looked pretty big to us and he was about 200yards away.
Some of the terrain looked alike like New Mexico here in this photos.
Very large herd of Kudu's with a lot of males in the mix - they just kept pouring out of the brush.
A mother warthog and her three babies, with there tails high up in the air, they were cruisin'.
Finally captured a photo of a baboon - we saw probably 60-70 along the way - boy are they fast.
Can along this crossing and thought we were in south Texas for a second.... hehehe!
A few more Kudu in a draw.
A Red Hartebeest - there were 3 total - all males.
Another Kudu along the shoulder of the road.
Scott and I trying to capture the moment - it's hard when there is no one around.
Scott just had to have a photo of this termite mound - we had to turn around and go back - he said no one would believe there were that tall. I'm glad that this one is not a "everything is bigger in Texas" - we have enough problems with ants.
